A stronger immigration profile with a personal website
One thing that has helped me tremendously, not only immigration wise but career-wise, is always to make sure I have a personal website up and running.
My current one is betocmn.com.
When you're in the hunt for a work visa sponsorship or even just applying for a skilled visa, I can guarantee having a website will make it much easier for the team reviewing your documentation. It's like a shortcut for the information that matters about you, besides being a good indication of your level of professionalism and organisational skills.
So here's a quick step-by-step to help you publish your first personal website in under 15 minutes. And it's free.
Step-by-step
Go to https://carrd.co/, a neat website builder.
Click on "Choose a Starting Point".
Choose a template. I'm picking template 32 for this example.
You can now click on each page element and write the content about you and your work (hint: for now, copy and paste from your Linkedin profile).
You have to fill out all required information.
Click the "Save" icon on the top-right and sign-up.
For now, you can choose the free option to use a "carrd.co" domain.
You can see my test website at https://duoflag.carrd.co/
Once you're done, feel free to comment on this post (or reply via email) with your URL, and I would be happy to give feedback.
Alternatives
I currently use a paid plan for another website builder, Squarespace. But my plan is actually to switch to Carrd. Either way, it's worth a check in case you're trying to do something more advanced or prefer different designs.
If you're a software developer, you can build it yourself using these cool free templates and publishing using free static hosting. You could also just host on Github directly.
That's it for today. I would be happy to help you with your website or any questions you may have. As always, feel free to hit reply, and I will get to it.
Thanks,
